SUP in Argentina can mean a canal outing, a lesson on a broad river, a session by the ocean or a paddle on a mountain lake. We selected five places with lessons or organised outings. This is a selection of destinations, not a ranking of schools.

Tigre: Delta canals and islands

Tigre is close to Buenos Aires and lets you explore the Delta from the water. Routes pass leafy banks, docks and island homes. Lessons and guided outings suit first-time paddlers and groups. Conditions differ between canals: instructors consider wind and boat traffic.

Rosario: the Paraná River

In Rosario, people paddleboard beside the Paraná riverfront. Lessons and organised outings are available. The river is wider than the canals in Tigre, so wind and route choice matter. For your first outing here, choose an instructor familiar with the local water.

Mar del Plata: paddleboarding by the ocean

Mar del Plata is an option for those curious about SUP by the sea. Schools offer beginner lessons and regular training. Ocean paddling differs from a flat-water outing: access to the water, waves and wind call for different preparation. Before booking, ask where the lesson takes place and whether it suits your experience.

Potrerillos: water and mountains in Mendoza

At the Potrerillos reservoir, you can paddle with views of the Andes. Lessons, guided outings and training formats are available. It is a way to add a day on the water to a trip through Mendoza. Outings depend on the weather, so arrange the timing and route in advance.

Bariloche: lakes of Patagonia

Around Bariloche, SUP takes place on lakes Gutiérrez, Moreno and Nahuel Huapi. You can find lessons, outings and activities for experienced paddlers. Conditions vary between lakes and between sections of the same lake. Pick a route that suits the weather and your experience, not just a photograph.

For a short trip from Buenos Aires, Tigre is convenient. Rosario offers a broad river, Mar del Plata the coast, and Potrerillos and Bariloche combine SUP with a mountain journey. Wherever you go, ask about conditions, guidance and rescheduling if the weather changes.
